anyone who can to put out word about the site to former RVRHS students - especially
to siblings to please spread the word. Also I am very interested in getting
more pictures on the site so if you have pictures in electronic format (jpg,

sent along this message, which I am passing along to everyone.
"I graduated from RVRHS in 1974 but I never received the yearbook. I was
absent from all the grad ceremonies and school picture sessions because my mother
was sick with cancer during that year and passed away shortly before my graduation.
My mind was not with any festivities surrounding the great event. I now live
in Bordeaux, France, with my wife and 2 children and I am writing a book, which
is more or less a semi-biography. I would like to get my hands on the 1974 yearbook
or the pictures of the graduating class of that year so I can put a face on
all the names I remember from my school days. I would of course pay for all
expenses of shipping and the yearbook itself (if you can get one), or scanned
pages of the pictures of the class of 74.
As I am trying to write about my childhood memories from which a lot of school
ones are present and still clear in my mind about my growing up in Canada, I
would be grateful for any sort of anecdotes from that year which you may have
in your archives. I recently sent a long e-mail letter type to 30 or so ex-classmates
to try and gather info. Only one, Ian, has replied so far.
Thank you in advance for any interesting or miscellaneous facts about RVRHS
in 1974 you could provide."
Paul
Mense (Class of 78) sent along this message -
"Just wanted to let everyone know to the sad passing of a good friend,
Marcel Therien. He passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2003.
He was living in PEI with his wife and son, when he died suddenly after emergency
surgery for a ruptured bowel. Even though he didn’t graduate in 1978, most people
in Secondary V knew him and his twin brother, Michel. If I believe correctly,
he did go back to RVR to complete his education in 1984 or 1985 under a special
program from the Quebec government."

After graduating from WMHS in 1967 I headed off to Bishop's University. I met
my husband Graeme there . We've lived in Lachine, Quebec, Oakville and Newmarket,
Ontario, Vancouver, BC and are now living in Burlington, Ontario. We have two
children, Matt who is a Kinesiologist in Burlington and Erin who is a singer/actor
and qualified Music Therapist living in Manhattan. Graeme is a Tax Specialist
working in Toronto and I work as a Reception Supervisor at a Veterinary Referral
Ophthalmological and General Practice in Oakville. I've been in the veterinary
field for 16 years now. That's what happens when you're not allowed pets as
a kid! I'd enjoy hearing from old friends.

someone who lives just around the corner from me.

have each other but we each have our own space as well!
His two kids are twenty-one eighteen.
Not terribly interested in doing the blended family thing with a bunch
of adolescents. Would love to hear
from anyone who remembers me. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the information
that has been posted on this site to date.

One day you just wake up and wonder where time has gone. As I scroll through
the names of the class of 1973,memories flood back into my head. I find it hard
to put faces to names, but as I sit here wonderful and not so wonderful pictures
come to mind.
I have been living on the coast in York, Maine since 1973.I'v been married twice
and have three children (all girls) Whitney 25, Emily 24 and Alexandra 14.My
first years in York I spent my time working in the local fishing fleet, the
rest of the time up until 1998 I had a paint contracting company. I went back
to school in 98 and studied surgical technology and am now working as a surgeons
assistant in the operating room of a local hospital and teaching surgical technology.
Well that
life in a nut shell, hope everyone is happy and healthy. Maybe someone will
read this and remember me and drop me a line.

diploma. Went to a First Nations
community in Bella Bella, BC. Taught
elementary school there for six years. Married someone from the community and have two children who
are part Heiltsuk. Separated in
2000, at the tail end of doing a M.A. in Education at the University of Victoria.
I'm in the final year (2003) of a Ph.D. at the University of Victoria
and planning to teach at a Canadian university.

Crooks (Class of 79) lavigne@monisys.ca
Hi folks. So interesting to hear
where everybody ended up. After
alternating between studying dance in Montreal, and modern languages at Concordia,
I finally settled down to a BA in Dance, at University of Waterloo. I
worked in various arts associations in Toronto, hated being poor, and ended
up going back to school for my ECE. Still
not rich, but now I work with children on the Autistic Spectrum using applied
behaviour analysis, which is very fulfilling.
Seven years ago I married old flame, Marc Lavigne, who I first met on
a blind date at a Grade 10 dance. Stairway
to Heaven! He has two kids, Adam,
who at this point (2003), is at Queen's University, pre-med, and Tracy who is
finishing high school in the states with her mom. Take care!

I am now married and living in Yellowknife, NWT. I have lived in the north since
early 1994 and just love it. I work as the Director, Corporate Services for
Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, so I travel across the country which keeps
me in touch with "south of 60" a fair bit. Camping, boating and softball
fill those long summer days and curling keeps me going all winter. Would love
to hear from some ex-classmates and see how you are all doing.

I am currently living in Ste-Julie with my wife of 17 years, Catherine, and
our two kids, Gabrielle 11 years-old and Alex 2 years-old. Yes, quite a gap
but as I am still quite a passionate guy, we kind of had a little accident one
night. Anyways, I love them both tremendously and cannot see my life any other
way. I work as a furniture finisher
in a custom made woodworking shop after having done everything having to do
with sales and promotions and being tired of the long travelling and being away
all the time. I still keep in touch with Dean Rice, Pat Boudreau and Mimica
and I am looking forward to seeing you all at the May 18th 2003 reunion.

Halo Sunshine! Hello everybody, I'm presently in Thailand where I am just completing
a book that chronicles the last ten years of my life. For the last four years
I've been moving about quite a bit experimenting with and experiencing the almost
indescribable Joy that intestinal cleansing and a diet void of all cooked foods
has given me. The book I am written speaks much about this phenomena. Hope everyone
is well. Bye for now.

Clark (Class of 86) debbie.s.lowe@ca.eyi.com
After RVR, I went on to Champlain and then Concordia.
Got my BA in History, met my hubby Matt and moved to his home town of
Calgary. In summer 1993 started
working for Ernst and Young (I can't believe it's been nearly 10 years!) as
a receptionist, and moved around the departments.
I landed in tax and I now prepare personal tax returns for expatriates.
We had a little girl in Sept 99, Elizabeth and despite a tough start
with her (open heart surgery at 3.5 months to repair two holes and a valve)
she is a very happy and energetic child.
I'd love to hear from anyone. As
I said my brother put me on to this site and we had a lot of fun reminiscing.
Take care all.

Mathieu (Class of 87) martinkolenko@hotmail.com
Hi everybody! It has been quite a long time since graduation. A lot of time
has gone by and I haven't seen anybody. On easter week-end I saw Patsy Laplante
for the first time and she told me about this website. I never left Beloeil
after graduation. I met my husband 12 years ago, bought a house facing the Richelieu
River, and started our family. I have a 6 year old daughter called Olivia and
a new arrival who is 5 months old in which we named, Angelina. I started my
own business last year after being fed up of working for everybody else! Besides
that, I was very sad to see that RVR was closing. I went to RVR to get copies
of my transcripts last year and roaming through the corridors brought back so
many memories.
Phil
Weisman (Class of 87)
I'm in the process of videotaping my life but haven't had time to watch it yet
(take my advice and buy rechargeable batteries.)
It'll be available soon on my website (as soon as I find it.)
I've done much since grad, not least of which was writing my doctoral
thesis on why I like cats (they taste a lot like chicken.)
My career as a stand-up comic was going well... until I got up on stage.
My interests include (but are not limited to) picking up very old and
very wealthy women, stealthily subverting international trade negotiations,
lying on my tax forms (I was a self-employed beach-comber last year, this year...
maybe an Arabic/Kurdish translator for the UN, maybe just a life-boat captain,
or, no wait: a guru.
I can see it now, 'So, Mr. Weisman, what exactly does a guru do?'
'Well,' I would respond, 'I've always liked the mountains!' in a zen
tone of pen. I should think that
that would keep them busy 'till fiscal 2003.
You know, if you start your own religion, you don't have to pay any taxes.)
What else... Oh yes, there was that bout with the Montréal municipality
over some unpaid 'rollerblading in the Metro' tickets.
I'm sure they'll forget eventually.
I started a chain of recycling stores.
First, the store was retail, then wholesale, then going out of business.
I hope the trend catches on. Soon
I intend to become the world’s first trillionaire, at which time I can host
the class of '87 reunion (probably in 2087.)
If any of you will have died by then, it will be my pleasure to pay for
your re-animation. On a lighter
note, I have two children (at least, that's what my lawyer tells me.)
I hope to meet them someday. I've
had many wives (none of which were my own,) and hope to make fun of them in
future updates. Where was I, oh yes, now I remember. It was interesting to read that some of you have become priests,
bakers and business executives, but slightly disturbing to find out just how
many had become computer programmers and the like. Computers are just a fad... it'll blow over soon.
Just like break-dancing!!! Well,
stay well, or get well and all will be welling up with tears.
'Well I see by the clock on the wall,
that it's
time to bid you, one and all,
so long,
fare well, adieu, ...
goodbye
'till when we meet again.
P.S. Don't forget 2087,
I'll be waiting...PW

Simich (Class of 89) jsimich@comlogix.ca
After graduation, I moved back to Ontario and attended Niagara College to finish
a Business / Marketing diploma. I then took it one step further and did my BA
in Business/Political Science at Brock University in St.Catharines. I became
obsessed with computers during colege and decided to turn my hobby into a career.
I was married to my lovely wife Kerri in 1999 and had a baby boy (Michael) on
January 21st, 2002. We lived and
worked in Toronto for many years until our little boy came along. kind of changed
our perspective on life. We traded
in our "fast-paced" lifestyles and Kerri decided to take some time
off work to stay home with our little guy.
It is now March 6th, 2003 and we are expecting another baby in September,
2003. We are now living in Grimsby,
ON (just outside Niagara Falls) and I now own and run my own software consulting
company... http://www.comlogix.ca .
Things are great and I look forward to getting back to the South Shore
someday.

Gosh! Ten years already?
I just saw Catherine Raymond's pic...If you thought she was hot looking
in high school... Look at the girl now! As for me, well some people are just
late bloomers...I never thought I would finish high school, but I have gone
a little further since then. I havent finished that poli sci degree yet, but
that should get done in spring 2004... After that? I'll see but you never know,
lately I've had a few situations that distracted me away from my studies...I
am not making a lot of money right now, but with the fun I having now, who needs
money! I guess sometimes you have to learn a few things first before you jump
in the "real world"...LOL! I guess Chris Gilbert has finally learned
how to kiss women, he must have, because he's going to be a father in a few
months from now. James Reid and I went out for a "few" beers to celebrate
on Chris's behalf last night.
Gotta
go, hope to see you guys soon.

Still alive... isn’t that strange? Now I’m stuck in Alberta drilling for oil
on an oilrig, yay. fun fun. You know how Mr. Ewert used to say how Canada was
just a big wasteland? its true, there’s not much to see besides some really
sad looking trees that looked like they were badly abused their whole lives.
Everything you hear about oilrigs is true. You make piles of money, and almost
die every other day. My first day this guy got his fingers ripped right off,
right in front of me, I was a little shocked at first then I just decided that
i would be traumatized for a while. If for any reason you feel like you need
to go work on an oil rig, do it. Actually don’t, work at McDonalds, you get
free hamburgers. (I think anyways..)

working on getting our house built for next spring out in the country. I am
currently working for Lassonde Juices as the coordinator of the trade-marketing
department. I'd like to hear from you to see what you have been up to and to
catch up for the last 6 years. Take care!!!

Graduated from Champlain with a DEC in Creative Arts. Have been a professional
pet groomer for about 4 yrs, and work at a vet clinic in St-Hubert. I absolutely
LOVE my job!! Did 1 year of Animal Health at Vanier, but didn't like it, so
I dropped it. I'm planning on studying to become Certified Master Groomer. My
life revolves around pets (have 3: 1 dog, 2 cats) and have recently started
horse-back riding again. Feel free to e-mail me... (unlike some of my customers)
I don't bite!!

I am studying Liberal Arts at Champlain College.
I miss high school very much, and all the people I no longer see as well.
It is very sad that RVR has closed, but we can still keep the memories
alive within us.
