RVRHS Alumni January 00 Newsletter
Welcome to the new millennium. I have been watching the around the clock coverage of New Years Eve around the planet it has been kind of fun. Right this moment they are playing Also Spake Zarathrustra in Bethlehem and setting off fire works. Hope the New Year brings health and happiness to all of you.
This is one of the shortest newsletters in recent memory. People must have been laying in supplies and battening down the hatches in preparation for the coming apocalypse <grin>. You will notice that this month the grad years are in order rather than organized along the lines of who sent their information in first. That should make it easier to read what you want to and skip what you don't.
Well that's it for now; see you in the new millennium.

I'm currently living in Fort McMurray, Alberta which is about 450km north of Edmonton. I've been in the Carpenter Union for 20 years, but I went back to school and completed a University degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in Computer Science. I enjoyed the computer sciences so much that I went on to complete a two year business diploma in Computer Information Systems. I have been doing work in both fields (Carpentry and Information Technology) but I will moving this year to Ottawa and hopefully will establish a full time career in Information Technology. Anyone wanting to get in touch please email me.

I currently live in the outskirts of Ottawa and work for the Feds - Canada Customs and Revenue Agency formerly Revenue Canada. My present position is a project officer in the Major Projects and Design Directorate of the Customs Trade Administration Branch. Our area is responsible for facilitating trade for commercial activity and expediting passenger clearance at border crossings while ensuring the safety of Canadians. Quite challenging.
I've been happily married for 6 years to a wonderful man who most may remember as night news man on FM96 - Rod Giles. Rod works in Corporate Communications at the Export Developments Corporation and has been questioned for inside information by our friend Andrew McIntosh (reporter for the National Post). We also, from time to time have dinner or a drink or two or 10 with another good friend Danny Smith. RVR is EVERYWHERE.
Rod and I have two beautiful daughters - Sarah 21/2 and Alexandra 4 who continue to keep us young and very happy.
Kevin Carpenter kcarpenter AT bellhelicopter.textron.com
I am married to an Italian beauty named Beatrice for 13 years. we have been together for 18 years!! We have 3 children (all boys in the carpenter tradition) Sean 10. Michael 8 & Thomas 6. We are homeowners and all live in Pincourt since 1992. Since graduating from RVR I worked at various companies working with computers.. No CEGEP for this boy!! Some of the more notable company's I have for are: Reader's Digest, Equifax, Spar Aerospace & Standard Life. I am presently working for Bell Helicopter in the flight test department. It is very interesting work as we test the experimental helicopters before the go into production. sometimes I get to fly. We have a great deal of different tests to certify a helicopter. This sometimes involves off-site testing. I recently spent 4 weeks in Colorado for high-altitude testing. Some other places we frequently go are: Arizona (hot weather), thermal California (cooling & hot weather), LG2 or like this year Yellowknife (cold weather), Albuquerque New Mexico(mid altitude& oil rigs). Lots of fun. My current hobbies are: playing hockey, playing guitar, restoring & working on "muscle cars"!! My collection stands at 3 right now!! Recently I have been bitten with the fitness bug!! My wife & friends were saying I should lose a few!!! They are right so I have undertaken a regular exercise routine. So far so good!! Maybe I can regain my youthful physique again!! We will see come reunion time eh??
Monty Hayter (Class of 87) mhayter AT mon-cher.com
Moved out to the west coast in 89, started programming for a living. Eventually got to co-host a radio program about computers, where I met my wife-to-be. We married, had a son...and then had my life totally derailed as my wife battled metastatic breast cancer for a year. She passed away in April 99. (see http://abreast2000.net for a website we created - although it is in need of an update, which I'm hoping to get to over the holidays...) Since then I've been just trying to put my life back together, holding down a full time job and doing the single parent thing for a smart, but rambunctious, two -year-old.
Gail Prosser (Class of 88) pawprint17 AT hotmail.com
Well... a helluva lot has happened since '88! Although most of it would be rather insignificant to most of my old schoolmates! I still live in the "wonderful" province of Quebec, pretty close to downtown Montreal. I have a BA in Early Childhood Education, and am currently back in school studying advertising. At present I work in an Ad agency in Old Montreal, and I also put in a few extra hours at the greatest bookstore in town. Not married, no kids, and pretty recently single, so... that just about sums it up! I still talk to and see those from my old "gang", as well as a few others. Would love to hear from you guys I went to elementary school with though! Get in touch...
Tracy Ann Payne (Class of 89) tramarc AT idirect.com
After RVR, I did CEGEP at Champlain (RVR II I think they called it). I did my B.A. at York University, took a year off, and did my Dip.Ed. at Bishop's. I have been teaching French for three years, and was the head of the French Immersion department at my last school, until I changed boards. I live with my husband, Marc, in Brampton and we try to return to "La Belle Province" whenever we can!
Brian Monaghan (Class of 91) cb.monaghan AT ns.sympatico.ca
