Newsletter
Late again, the same old refrain only much later than normal. I have
been swamped with work lately and when you are self employed that is a good
thing - but the hobbies suffer.
Merry Xmas, Happy Hanukah, Joyous Kwanza, Festive Festivus etcetera.
I would like to appeal to everyone who has contacts or siblings who attended
RVR - let them know the site exists. There are quite a few new additions
this month it looks like people are starting to circulate the site URL
again. Anyone who wants to send in photos for the site via email you can
send them to headgeek AT geekstreet.com
. Please stick to JPG, TIF or BMP format.
If you wish to send me photographs or anything else via snail mail the

Debbie Keeler (Class of 72) warnerdl AT telus.net
I dug out the ol' year books and tried to remember as many faces as I could. It's been so long and I often wondered what became of everyone.
I could probably write a book about what happened in my life since high school. To make a long story somewhat shorter I graduated and was married shortly after the following May to a guy about 4 or so years older than me by the name of Herb LeGrand. He was from St. Basile le Grand and not from RVRHS. I worked at Olsten Temporary Services in Montreal then moved onto The Bank of Montreal. I worked at the bank as a receptionist, clerk, admin. sect'y, executive sect'y, security dept., and finally human resources for about 6 or 7 years.
I had a son who is now 25 yrs. old living in Edmonton, Alberta and I divorced my first husband after 5 years of marriage. - Never looked back on that part of my life -!
I met my current husband (about 5 yrs. younger than me) Larry Warner back in my home town - The Eastern Townships near the Vermont border. We were married in July ''79 and he adopted my son. In '80 I had a daughter who is now 20 yrs. old living in Delta, British Columbia.
I moved back and forth across Canada managing dairy farms with my husband and children. Our job was to go in and get them out of the red and back on their feet again. We would move onto the next farm after that. This all ended one year when my husband go hurt through the neglect of a farm owner we worked for in British Columbia. My husband was out of work for 4 years recuperating after several surgeries and retrained in sales and service of outdoor power equipment.
In the meantime I worked at InterCity Papers as a telemarketer selling paper products for 1 yr. and decided what could I do for work at home that I liked and can make a decent living from, so I could be there for my kids when they got home from school etc. I started a licensed family daycare business called Little Duffers Family Daycare, Preschool Program. I doubled my income in the first year and tripled it in the 2nd year and quadrupled it in the 3rd. yr. I had a thriving daycare business of 9 years and loved every minute of it! My daughter got her degree in Early Childhood Education and took over my daycare business on the Coast.
My husband & I had bought a home in Vernon, BC (the interior, otherwise known as the Sunny Okanagan) about 2 years ago. I moved in last May and my husband & I have started a new business called Interior Turf Equipment Ltd. We have been very successful in our first year and expect to do even better in 2001. We sell and service industrial mowers etc. that maintain the greens at the golf courses and school districts, municipalities, landscapers and some home owners. Larry is on the road with customers and I'm in the office. Larry's brother from Quebec has sold everything there and is on his way to BC with his wife to join our corporation. There is just too much work now for the two of us. We cover all of BC and parts of Alberta.
This is a long story short believe it or not!
I would love to hear from the friends I went to school with. Please e-mail me or snail mail.

Sue Upton (Class of 79) sueupton AT hotmail.com
Well, I was only there for that year, so it's entirely possible nobody would have a clue who I am! I moved to Ottawa after graduating, went to art school, started off as a watercolor portrait artist, and somehow wound up as a make-up artist for TV & film. I've been based out of Toronto for the past several years...though it's hard to know where I live these days since half the year seems to be spent in Halifax working on This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
Kathy M. Roy (Class of 81) Kathy.M.Roy AT gulfins.com
After RVR, I attended Dawson then graduated from Vanier in 1984. I packed up my belongings and moved down to Connecticut in May of '84 and I have been here ever since. After 5 jobs in 4 years, I have ended up in the insurance industry working as a commercial property underwriter (fancy name for paper pusher). It seems like I never left school as I continued my education, first for professional designations and now for my BS. I'm single with no kids but I own condo and a dog. I continue to visit the Montreal area regularly to see family and friends.
Allison Gunston (now Walker) (Class of 81)
She moved to Toronto in 1981, where she attended college. Currently, she lives in Elmvale, Ontario, with her husband.

Hello everyone...since my last entry a lot has changed in my life. I'm back living in Toronto with my girlfriend (still not married...yet) and trying to adjust to city life all over again. I've been working as the Senior Sales Rep for an ISP (http://www.centralontario.com) and trying to develop a sales force in the GTA. I'm currently interviewing for a new position with a local Toronto radio station (can't say who just yet) as their new Vice President of Web Development so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I would love to hear from anyone who is interested in sending me an email. I hope everyone is doing well.

Bernard "Casey" Jones (Class of 84) elevatorbernie AT yahoo.com
After I finally got out in 85...I worked as a draftsman for a while in Mtl. Then moved to Toronto in 86. I got a job there installing elevators. Moved back to Mtl. in 87, to install more elevators until 88 when I went to P.E.I. for some more. Moved back to Mtl. Again in 89 and installed more elevators until late 89. Then I got a more secure job repairing elevators.
That lasted until 92 when I got laid off again, was out of work most of 92 and all of 93. This time I had enough, so in 94 I put my tools, what else would fit in the truck and drove out west to B.C. I started working the next day in Vancouver. Installed more in 94. Then got a job maintaining and troubleshooting elevators. Been here doing it ever since. It's a good
trade that I' ve learned ; I just had to always follow the work. The only down fall was my homelife suffered with so much moving around. I never married or had kids, not yet anyway. I can't really complain though, my life since high school has been great and never boring. B.C. is great, the journey since school to get here was long and sometimes lonely, but worth it! I plan to stay here for awhile, maybe find Mrs. right and plant some roots here on the westcoast. Who knows? I think maybe the real journey is just beginning. For now though I,m happy working and playing hard; get to ski and mountainbike anytime I want. Skied 35 times last season. Life is good! I hope your lives are too.
